1. by excluding some known adverse reactions.
2. by focusing on rarely changed or only marginally changed variable.
eg. Blood Pressure - It's true that there are some cases with reduced BP in reaction to MSG. But, how rarely does it happen, after all? Measuring it as a variable in a small study sample treated with only a small dose of test material, is nothing more than non sense.
